What is Shared Decision-Making?
A structure that empowers
professional direct care nurses to contribute collectively as decision makers
regarding the nursing practice environment. This includes standard of practice,
policies and procedures, resource utilization, evidenced-based practice and
research, and quality and performance improvement.
The councils are open to all
nurses -- from novice to expert -- and welcome all nurses’ involvement and
participation.

Performance Improvement Council
Scope:
To
coordinate performance initiatives that supports the mission, vision, and
strategies of DRH. To identify performance measures; make quality and
performance improvement recommendations; aggregate, quantify and analyze
data.

Focus:

Develop, revise and approve the
Annual Nursing Quality Improvement Plan

Review
and evaluate data (NDNQI, Core Measures, IHI, NPSG, unit data, benchmarks,
etc.) and incorporate the data to develop action plans in collaboration with
service based practice councils

Monitor
unit based quality improvement activities
·
Oversee
the process for timely and accurate data submission/reports

Preparation of regulatory survey

Nurse Practice
Council
Scope:
To
ensure nursing practice is evidence-based and there is a comprehensive approach
to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of quality patient care.

Council
Scope:
To
provide leadership supporting the practice of Nursing at DRH.

promote a positive nursing environment at DRH that includes effective
communication mechanisms, partnerships with other disciplines and other
