Detroit Receiving Ranks in Top Ten Detroit Hospitals ...
Detroit Receiving Hospital has been recognized by US News & World Report as one of its Metro Areas Top Ten Hospitals. The survey also recognized “high performing” specialty care in these areas:
- Diabetes
- Endocrinology (glands)
- Ear, Nose & Throat
- Geriatrics
- Nephrology (kidneys)
- Pulmonology (lungs)
- Urology
“This award exemplifies the depth of quality and specialty care that Detroit Receiving delivers every day,” commented President Reginald J. The US News & World Report Metro Area Rankings recognize 622 hospitals nationally in or near major cities with a record of high performance in key medical specialties, including 132 of the 152 hospitals already identified as the best in the nation. To be ranked in its metro area, a hospital had to score in the top 25 percent among its peers in at least one of 16 medical specialties. There are nearly 5,000 hospitals nationwide.
U.S. News created Best Hospitals more than 20 years ago to identify hospitals exceptionally skilled in handling the most difficult cases. The new Metro Area Rankings are relevant to a wider range of healthcare consumers, including those who want the best care for less critical health issues. Patients and their families will have a far better chance of finding a high performing U.S. News-ranked hospital in their health insurance network and might not have to travel as far for excellent care.
"All of these hospitals provide first-rate care for the majority of patients, even those with serious conditions or who need demanding procedures," said Health Rankings Editor Avery Comarow. "The new Best Hospitals metro rankings can tell you which hospitals are worth considering for most medical problems if you live in or near a major metro area."
Detroit Medical Center (DMC) has four top ten hospitals and 29 High-Performing Specialties listed in U.S. News & World Report's rankings. The four ranked hospitals are DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital, DMC Harper University Hospital, DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital and DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital.
