Satisfied Family Writes Letter to Local Newspaper

September, 2002

You might not always know when you've made a difference to one of our patients or their family, but it happens every day. Below is an excerpt of a letter Diane and Ross Biondo, Sr., of Macomb County, sent to a local newspaper about the staff at DRH, which was printed as an article.

"On May 4 at 5:50 p.m. our son Ross was involved in an accident on 25 Mile Road and Van Dyke in Shelby Township. Many wonderful people have been involved in his care.

When we arrived at Detroit Receiving Hospital a wonderful man named Mike stayed with us. He took us to see Ross on his way to surgery. All night he continued to talk to doctors and inform us of how he was doing.

The next day we were able to see Ross. Again, Mike continued to take care of us. Ross was cared for by Dr. Burton Moed and many more doctors and nurses. They took wonderful care of Ross and us as well. Some of them we were able to know and some of them we never met. The next day a very caring wonderful woman by the name of Ms. Mary Justice came to see us. She has continued to support and help us.

The people that work at the information desk, Carl, Vanessa and Lateshia, only to mention a few, were extremely helpful to us. If we were not able to be with Ross they directed calls from doctors for us so that we were able to know how he was doing. Their smiles were very helpful also. Your quick actions saved our son's life. For this we are very grateful."
