Tommye
Hinton-Arnold has more than 25 years of experience in acute and ambulatory
patient care, hospital operations and managed care. She earned a B.S.N. in 1972 from
Tuskegee University in
Tuskegee, Alabama, and an M.S.N. from
Wayne State University in
Detroit, Michigan in 1974. She is a certified Nurse Executive –
Advanced through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Since joining
Detroit Receiving Hospital in 2007, Hinton-Arnold has managed
operations for the department of nursing.
This includes inpatient, emergency, surgical, anesthesia, quality,
clinical resource management, education, evidence-based practice and
research. She works with the
hospital’s
administrative and clinical teams to support patient care processes and has led
several new program implementations and performance improvement initiatives.
Prior to joining
Detroit Receiving Hospital in 2007, she was associate vice
president of health management services for Health Alliance Plan (HAP), the
insurance division of Henry Ford Health System. Her responsibilities encompassed quality
management, accreditation and patient safety.
Hinton-Arnold
is a member of numerous civic and professional organizations including the
American Organization of Nurse Executives, National Association of Healthcare
Quality and American Nurses Associations, among others. She resides in
Detroit.
